The Engine Yard, Belvoir Castle

A hand illustrated winter scene outside Vale House at The Engine Yard, Belvoir Castle. This piece was commissioned to advertise an upcoming event where an ice skating rink was being installed for the winter months. The brief was to create an illustration featuring the recognisable Vale House but introduce the ice rink and characters enjoying the activities. Helen chose to keep the colour palette muted but festive to show the season without it being too ‘christmassy’. Portrait and landscape illustrations were required and Helen included day and night as well as snow and lawn so that the client had options. This meant the marketing materials would feel cohesive but not repetitive. The overall affect is a charming illustration with texture and imperfectly perfect features, where you can just glimpse Belvoir Castle faded in the background.

All elements were drawn by hand using watercolour before being digitalised so that the illustration can be used for a variety of purposes and sizes.
